Resonance

A Literary / Academic Mystery

Manuscript in Beta Phase
Novella-length (~36,000 words)
First in a planned series

I've taken Resonance offline while I revise the manuscript based on beta reader feedback. While there will be significant changes, the structure and plot will remain the same.

Structure

Resonance alternates between present-day New York and 1860s London, shifting chapter by chapter between a first-person contemporary investigation and a third-person Victorian narrative. The two timelines are linked by an encrypted journal, through which discoveries in the present emerge from decisions recorded in the past.

Plot

When Eleanor Hargrove’s closest friend disappears after taking a position at a private foundation in New York, Eleanor begins a search for answers that leads her inside an institution built on secrecy. In 1866 London, telegraph clerk Edwin Braxton alters a single message and becomes entangled in a criminal syndicate. As both stories unfold, acts of loyalty give rise to betrayal, setting in motion consequences neither can fully contain.
